Donated Collections
Cardigan Castle has been most fortunate to receive generous donations of content from a number of Private Collections. These are paintings, photographs, documents and objects which are of historic interest to the general public and historians alike. We are greatly indebted to those individuals, families and executors who have entrusted works to form part of the Castle Collection for generations to follow.

How To Donate an item, image or object to the Castle Collection
Cardigan Castle is run by the Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust, a registered Charity. Since the Castle was restored and opened to the public in 2015 it has received several donated items of historic interest, which now form part of the ‘Castle Collection’ reflected by this website. Many of these items are displayed at the Castle.
Curation of the ‘Collection’ lies with the Castle Director, Meirion Davies and the Castle Historian – Glen Johnson. If you have any items which you would consider might sit well at the Castle please contact info@cardigancastle.com.
Alternatively please call in at the Castle reception in the Castle shop during opening hours to discuss any possible donations.
The Castle is particularly interested in items which have an historic link with the Castle itself , items from the Castle which were sold at auction in late 2002, or indeed any previous period. We are also interested in any Georgian or Regency furniture or items which have an unique provenance to Cardigan town or one of the neighbouring parishes.
The ‘Castle Collection’ is a developing archive and as such can reflect any period up to today.
Whilst it is not possible to accept all items offered – if the Castle does become a custodian of an item, the donation is recorded where possible along with the provenance of any items along with supporting evidence of it’s history.
We aim to hold , preserve and celebrate our history for future generations to enjoy.
